Class Descriptions
Age / Grade Specific
Traditional Japanese Karate classes, working on all three areas of karate training: kihon, kata and kumite. Regardless of age, level or ability, you will work at your own pace using a combination of solo, partner and pad work. Learn more about our programmes using the links below.
Family Friendly Karate
Our Family Friendly class is a great opportunity for parents, kids and siblings to train together, and nothing bonds a family better than karate!
Students who attend this class don’t necessarily have to attend with family members, so kids, teens or adults can attend this class alone.
However, we’ve created this space specifically for families, so please be aware that there will be a mix of kids and adults in this Traditional Japanese Karate class.
These classes are suitable for students of any grade, age 6+.
Kata
The art of kata, or forms, are a fundamental part of Traditional Japanese Karate and has been used as a training tool since the very beginning.
You will learn the technical elements of kata and their bunkai (practical meaning and application of moves) to help take your performance and learning to the next level.
Students who attend this class must be at least 6th Kyu (green belt), unless invited by Sensei.
Sparring Class
Fast paced and dynamic, these classes focus on “Sport Karate” rather than Traditional Japanese Karate.
Learn techniques and tactics to discover your own fighting style. Using partner work, pad work and fitness drills you will work to become the best fighter you can be!
These classes are suitable for beginners and more advanced students, and there’s no requirement to attend our Traditional Japanese Karate classes.
Our sparring classes are for students age 10+.
Competition Classes
These monthly classes focus primarily on preparing students for WKF sport competition karate. From technical knowledge and skill, physical conditioning, scoring & rules and mindset, we nurture our athletes to shine on the competitive stage.
Students who attend this class must be at least 9th Kyu (orange belt), unless invited by Sensei, and have a desire to compete in sport karate.
