Your Trial Lesson

The fear of the unknown is something that so often holds us back in life and we know how daunting that first step can be!

Every single karateka has been exactly where you are now; we all started as beginners and took that first step into the dojo. So when we say we know how daunting it can be, we really do know!

We want you or your child’s experience with us to be the most welcoming and encouraging experience possible. Our friendly and experienced coaching team will be on hand to guide you within the class but here’s what you can expect from your trial karate lesson with us.

You will be welcomed on arrival by one of our coaching team to mark your attendance and invite you to get prepared for class beginning by removing your shoes and placing your belongings at the designated area.

The coach will briefly explain the class line-up procedures and may appoint a “buddy” for your session. A buddy is usually a student who is training next to you in the graded line; a friendly face that can help guide you. However, we may ask another coach or more senior student to buddy you or your child.

During the class, you will take part with all other students. Any techniques and activities will be explained clearly and adjusted for your specific ability, and you can always expect some fun partner and pad work! Throughout the session, the coach will be close by to guide you.

After class, you can have a quick chat with the coach; we’re always keen to hear your thoughts and how you enjoyed it! The coach will give you more information on how to enrol and answer any other questions you may have about joining our Academy.
